Julia was first introduced to Pilates at a very young age when she would join her mom in their basement following along side by side to Pilates workout videos on VHS. She also began dancing at the age of 2 and after many years of being a competitive dance she moved to Toronto where she completed a B.F.A in Performance and Choreography at York University. At York, Julia also ran the Hip Hop Dance Club and university competitive team for 3 years while pursuing a career as a professional dancer.

When COVID put her dance life on hold she discovered yoga and it’s many benefits. Her yoga and Pilates practice became a safe space for her where she found a great sense of community. Over time she noticed how this new way of moving and incorporating mindfulness was a complement to her rigorous dance training.

Feeling inspired, Julia decided she wanted to pursue a career as a movement instructor and became certified in Level 1 and 2 Mat Pilates and Reformer Pilates with Pilates Process. She is currently completing her Pilates Chair and Cadillac training.

She is looking forward to using her dance background to create unique movement sequences and hopefully introduce Pilates as a safe movement practice to young dancers who may be dealing with injuries or mental burnout.
